elleng / Dropbox Share Link Batch Save & Download

Published:

Version: 1.0.1+98c7a2c updated

Summary: Adds a checkbox to every file on Dropbox share-link pages, in both list and grid view. Select any files, then either save them one by one with "Copy to Dropbox" on the same page (the new-tab event is the success signal and is intercepted), or send them straight to the browser downloader. Shift-click and Ctrl/Cmd+A work too. The UI blends into Dropbox's own native layout.

Dropbox Share Link Batch Save & Download

Author: 伦Ellen | Version: 1.0.1

About

On Dropbox shared-link pages, files can only be copied one at a time via "Copy to Dropbox". With more than a handful of files this gets tedious, and every copy pops up a new tab.

This script puts a checkbox on every file and adds two buttons to the folder action bar:

  • "Save Selected (N)" — stays on the same page and copies each selected file in sequence, intercepting the success popups so you never end up with a pile of tabs
  • "Download Selected (N)" — hands the selected files straight to your browser's downloader, without going through the copy-to-Dropbox flow

Both list view and grid view are supported: in the list the checkbox sits on the left of each row, in the grid in the top-left corner of each tile preview. Selection supports Shift-click (grab a whole range) and Ctrl / Cmd + A (select all), and it survives a switch between the two views.

Features

  • A checkbox appears on the left of every file row; ticking it selects the file and outlines the row in blue
  • A select-all checkbox in the column header selects every file in the current list at once (shows a partial state when only some are selected)
  • A "Save Selected (N)" button is added to the folder action bar, showing the number of selected files live
  • Clicking it keeps you on the same page and triggers each file's copy action in sequence — no need to open files one by one
  • The success popup is intercepted, so no extra tabs pile up
  • Progress and the final result are shown in the bottom-right corner; files that load in later while scrolling can still be selected
  • Works in both list view and grid view; your selection survives a view switch (in grid view the checkbox sits in the top-left corner of the tile preview, and select-all sits at the front of the top action bar)
  • A "Download Selected (N)" button next to the native Download button hands the selected files straight to your browser downloader, bypassing the copy-to-Dropbox flow
  • Shift-click selects everything between the last file you clicked and the one you click now; Ctrl / Cmd + A selects all (press again to clear)

How to use

  1. Open a Dropbox shared link (a shared folder or a shared file page)
  2. Wait for the file list to load, then tick the files you want (or use the select-all checkbox)
  3. Click "Save Selected (N)" (copy into your own Dropbox), or "Download Selected (N)" (download straight through your browser)
  4. Keep the page open and watch the bottom-right status message until "Done" appears
  5. Check the files in your own Dropbox (the script cannot confirm on your behalf, so please verify yourself)

Each file takes roughly 1–7 seconds — that is normal. Please do not refresh, close the page, or click the list manually while it is running.

Reading the results

When the run finishes, the bottom-right corner reports: X succeeded, Y unconfirmed, Z failed.

Result Meaning What to do
Succeeded Confirmed completed —
Unconfirmed The copy was triggered, but no definite success signal was captured; it has most likely been saved anyway Verify these first
Failed The copy button for that file could not be triggered Refresh the page, select just those files, and run again

Where it runs

The script works only on Dropbox shared-link pages:

  • Shared folder pages
  • Shared single-file pages
  • Legacy share-link pages

It does not run on any other website, and it does not request access to pages unrelated to its purpose.

Permissions & privacy

  • Requests no special permissions and makes no network requests
  • Does not read, upload, or store any of your data; the selection lives in the current page only and is gone when you close it
  • Does not alter the behaviour of the page's own buttons — outside of a running copy job, the page behaves exactly as it normally does
  • No third-party libraries are used; the code is not minified or obfuscated, so you can read all of it before installing

Tips

  • Keep a single run to about 20–30 files; the more you select, the longer the total run takes
  • Please do not refresh, close, or switch away from the page while it runs, and do not click the list manually, or the run may be interrupted
  • The destination folder is handled by Dropbox's own copy flow — the script does not choose a save location for you
  • The script is an unofficial, third-party page enhancement and is not affiliated with Dropbox. Please respect the target site's terms of service and keep your usage volume reasonable
  • If a site update makes the button or the checkboxes stop appearing, please report it on the feedback page
  • The interface text (button label and status messages) follows the page language first, then the browser language: a Chinese interface shows Chinese, everything else shows English
  • The core functionality does not depend on any interface text, so it works with all Dropbox languages, not just Chinese and English

Interface language

The injected button label and status messages follow the page language (the language you see Dropbox in, then the browser language); languages not covered fall back to English. Currently localized in 20 languages:

English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Deutsch, Français, Español, Português (Brasil), Italiano, Nederlands, Polski, Русский, Українська, Svenska, Dansk, Norsk (bokmål), Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Malaysia, ไทย

The script name and description shown in the script list remain Chinese / English.

FAQ

Q: No checkboxes appear on the page.
Make sure you opened one of the shared-link pages listed above and that the list is shown in list form; other views may not expose file rows.

Q: The "Save Selected" button is missing.
If the page's action bar does not match the expected structure, the button falls back to the bottom-right corner of the page — check there first.

Q: Will it open a lot of new tabs?
No. The popups shown on success are intercepted.

Q: Can it save into a specific folder I choose?
No. The destination is determined by Dropbox's own copy flow; the script does not take part in choosing a folder.

Q: Are my ticked files still selected after a refresh?
No. The selection is kept for the current page only and is cleared on refresh.

Q: Does it work on other cloud drives?
No. It is written specifically for Dropbox shared pages.

Q: Does it work in grid view (tiles)?
Yes. Both list view and grid view are supported, and switching between them keeps your current selection. In grid view the checkbox appears in the top-left corner of each tile preview, and the select-all checkbox sits at the front of the top action bar.

Q: Where do multi-select downloads go? Can it confirm the download succeeded?
They land in your browser default download folder (changeable in browser settings). The download is handled by the browser, so the script cannot confirm each file — your browser may ask whether to allow multiple downloads; just allow it.
