Search smarter, bookmark favourites, filter what you see, and save images and videos with filenames you choose. A button dock on the screen edge holds the controls you use every day. Toggle Main UI opens the green settings panel (anchored to the dock) for patterns, bulk lists, Behaviours, and backup.

Hoarder friendly limits, meaning no limits. Register tens of thousands of tags and manipultive rules.

Work from the dock

Day-to-day work lives on the dock. Use the settings panel when you need path patterns, bulk list edits, Behaviours, or backup.

Download Manager (batch):

• Tag Discovery Mode, Selection Mode, Add to Download Queue (on a post), Download Queue Start/Pause, and Skip Duplicate Downloads (hover for Hide downloaded).
• Search thumbs react as soon as you click to queue or unqueue.

Single download (post pages):

• Auto-download / Download Media — hidden when Only Show the Download Manager is on in Behaviours.

Other dock controls:

• Filter cluster — Disable All Filters (hover for Default tags, Resolution filter, Tag blacklist), Explored tags, and Hide older posts (hover for Set Latest ID / Set Post ID).
• Page actions — bookmark the current search, Auto next page, then Active Hide Rules and cycle the dock position (right or bottom) from the foot of the rail.

Shape every search

• Enable Default Tags — turn on from the dock (Default tags under Disable All Filters). Edit the list in the settings panel (one tag or rule per line). Examples:

  sort:score:desc
  -futanari

  The search box still shows only what you typed; defaults merge in when you search. Underscores in tag names apply when you Save or Apply.

• Enable Resolution Filter — turn on from the same dock slide-out. Set minimum and/or maximum Width and Height in the settings panel. Use 0 on a bound to ignore it.

See the results you want

Prefer the sidebar for day-to-day hide rules; use the panel list for bulk edits or multi-tag lines. Sidebar buttons (hide, explore, and the filename actions below) react as soon as you click.

• Hide posts with the tag — hover a sidebar tag row and click the eye. That adds the tag to your main blacklist and turns Enable Tag Blacklist on. Click again (Stop hiding posts with this tag) to remove it. A strike on the eye means it is active; the row gets a soft red tint.

• Enable Tag Blacklist — also toggle from the dock. In the settings panel, edit Tag Blacklist when you need combined rules (one line each):

  • Names use underscores: tifa_lockhart, not spaces.
  • Combine on one line: blonde_hair & sole_female (both), gore | guro (either).
  • Text after // is a note for yourself only.

• Active Hide Rules — on search pages, open the control at the foot of the dock to see what removed posts and how many. Matching blacklist lines offer Remove.

• Hide Older Posts — turn on from the dock. Hover it and choose Set Latest ID on a search page (highest id on the page) or Set Post ID on a post. Or type Last ID in the settings panel.

• Auto next page — dock toggle; opens the next page when every tile on the current page is filtered out.

• Arrow keys — on search pages, left and right go to the previous and next page when those links exist.

• Disable All Filters — dock master switch to bypass every filter without clearing your settings. Hover it for the individual filter toggles.

Exploration Mode

Use a secondary list while you work through huge result sets. Mark a tag as explored while you page; when you are done with it, hide it on the main blacklist so those posts stay out of the way.

• Hover a sidebar tag and click the compass (Add tag to explore list). That adds the tag to your explore list and turns Enable Explored Tags Tracker on. Click again (Remove tag from explore list) to take it off. A strike on the compass means it is active; the row gets a soft red tint.
• Enable Explored Tags Tracker — also toggle from the dock (Explored tags). Edit Explored Tags Tracker in the settings panel for bulk changes. Rules use the same line syntax as the main blacklist.

Save searches

• Bookmark this search — dock star on search pages (shows Bookmarked — click to remove when already saved).
• Bookmark / Remove bookmark — hover a sidebar tag for a one-tag search bookmark.
• In the settings panel, manage saved searches as buttons: filter the list, ⇅ sort A–Z, × remove. Single-tag bookmarks may show eye or compass buttons when that tag is on your hide or explore list — click to remove it (those buttons react as soon as you click). Newest first until you sort. Included in backup/restore.

Build filenames from the sidebar

Hover a tag row in the sidebar to control how tags appear in filenames and folders — no typing required for day-to-day changes. Tags, rules, and your download memory are stored in the browser, so lists are not capped the way older versions were. Ignore, substitute, hide, explore, and bookmark on a row react as soon as you click.

• Ignore in filenames / Stop ignoring in filenames — the Aa button. Ignored tags stay out of Artists, Characters, and other filename tokens. A strike means ignore is on; the row looks greyed. The ignore button is hidden when the tag is already a substitution alias (resolve or remove the substitution first).

• Substitute this tag with another — two-click link so an alias writes as a different name in filenames:

  1. Click the swap icon on the alias (the name you want replaced). The icon goes solid; the title becomes Cancel substitution link — click the same tag again to cancel.
  2. Click the swap / check on the canonical tag (Substitute the linked tag with this one). The rule is saved.
  3. On an alias that already has a rule, click again (Remove tag substitution) to clear it.

  Substituted tags look greyed in the row. The same shortcuts appear in Tag Discovery, so you can wire aliases while resolution is paused for review (downloads already Ready keep going).

• Hide posts with the tag and Add tag to explore list — same eye and compass actions as above; they affect search filters, not only filenames.

For bulk edits later, open the settings panel and use Filename Tag Substitutions (Subject → Alias composer; list is read-only) and Filename Tag Ignore List (one tag per line).

Discover tags while you download

Turn Tag Discovery Mode on from the dock when you want full control over new tags before they land in filenames and folders.

When a post has tags the script has not categorized yet, a Tag Discovery panel opens on the dock:

• The panel opens with: New tags were found. Review actions, then confirm to continue.
• New tags need review. Each row shows an incidence count and the same shortcuts as the sidebar (bookmark, ignore, substitute, hide, explore). Groups follow type (Artists, Series, Characters, Meta, General, and so on). Those buttons react as soon as you click.
• Known tags on the same post appear below so you can set up substitutions without pausing again later.
• Similar tags (collapsed by default) lists close matches you already keep for the new names — same shortcuts as above.
• Click a tag name to open that tag’s search in a new browser window.
• Skip — drop this item without confirming types (the queue continues in Download Manager mode).
• Remove — take this post out of the queue from the discovery panel to unlock resolution the same way as Skip, without confirming types.
• Open media — open that post in a new browser window.
• Confirm — accept tag types and continue.

With Review Ignored Download Path Tags on (in Behaviours), downloads can open this panel again when every matching tag for a filename or folder chip is ignored — so those chips would get unknown instead of real names (see Organize folders and filenames). The panel lists ignored tags for those empty chips only (not other chips that still have names), with Similar tags already open. Confirm stays until every empty chip is fixed. This applies to the Download Manager queue and to single download (Download Media / Auto-download).

With Skip Media Without Download Path Tags on (in Behaviours), the Download Manager skips a post when your filename or folder pattern asks for tag types (Artists, Characters, and so on) but the post has none of those tags — so every such chip would become unknown. This does not apply to single download. The ignore list is not used for this check.

Leave discovery off if you prefer downloads to run without stopping for unknown tags.

Queue downloads from search

There are two separate ways to save media — parallel modes, not steps of the same flow:

• Download Manager — batch on search pages: select many posts, let them resolve, then start or pause the queue (this section).
• Single download — on a post page: Download Media once, or Auto-download when you open the post (see below).

Only Show the Download Manager in Behaviours hides the single-download dock buttons so the rail stays batch-only.

This is Download Manager mode: gather links at your own pace, then start downloads when you are ready. The script spaces resolve and download starts so rate limits are seldom hit. Large overnight queues keep moving even with many search pages open.

The site homepage keeps settings and Download Manager queue controls; search/post actions (bookmark, selection, auto-download, and so on) stay hidden. Keep home as your download hub — click the crown beside the progress widget while idle so this page is the Download Manager hub — and browse or pick media elsewhere so large saves are not interrupted.

1. On a search page, turn Selection Mode on from the dock (click items to queue). Or enable Start in Selection Mode in the settings panel so selection comes on every load — you can still turn it off from the dock for that visit.
2. Click each media thumb you want. Thumbs react as soon as you click. Tiles show progress (Queued, Waiting, Resolving, Tags, Ready, Downloading, Done, Duplicate, Skipped, Failed, Verify). Resolution runs as you select; you do not need to start downloads yet.
3. When items are Ready, click Download Queue Start/Pause to start saving. Click again to pause. Hover it for queue progress and Clear Download Queue (clears pending downloads only — selection and resolution work stay). Beside the progress widget, the crown button is lit when this page is the Download Manager hub; click it while idle to make this page the hub.
4. With Tag Discovery Mode on, unknown tags pause resolution until you Confirm, Skip, or Remove in the discovery panel — downloads that are already Ready continue.

On a post page, Add to Download Queue still belongs to Download Manager — enqueue or remove the current post from the dock (the button reacts as soon as you click).

Download a single post

This is single download mode — separate from the Download Manager queue, not a step after it.

• Download Media — save this post once (when Auto Download Media is off).
• Auto Download Media — downloads when you open a post. Hover for Remove Media On Download Success (best effort; removes the picture or player after a save).

With Tag Discovery Mode or Review Ignored Download Path Tags on, the review panel can still open for these saves. Turn on Only Show the Download Manager in Behaviours if you want the dock to hide these controls and stay batch-only.

Organize folders and filenames

In the settings panel (after Toggle Main UI):

• Download Folder — default brazen-rule34xxx.
• Subfolder Pattern and Filename Pattern — tap chips instead of typing: ID, File hash, Width, Height, Score, Rating, Artists, Series, Characters, Meta, General, plus Space, –, _, /. Example: ID + – + Characters → 12345 - tifa lockhart.jpeg. When Artists, Series, or Characters has nothing to use, that part of the path becomes unknown.
• Strip Series From Character Tags — shortens names like sciel (clair obscur expedition 33) to sciel in filenames.
• Sidebar ignore / substitute (and discovery) decide which tags fill those chips; the panel lists are for bulk review.

In the Behaviours tab:

• Review Ignored Download Path Tags — when ignore rules would leave a tag chip with nothing but unknown, Tag Discovery opens with those ignored tags (for empty chips only) and similar matches so you can fix ignore or substitutions first. Applies to Download Manager and to single download.
• Skip Media Without Download Path Tags — when the pattern asks for tag types but the post has none of them (every such chip would be unknown), the Download Manager skips the post. Does not apply to single download. The ignore list is not used for this check.
• Only Show the Download Manager — hides Auto-download and Download Media on the dock so only batch Download Manager controls remain.

Avoid saving the same post twice

Skip Duplicate Downloads (on by default; dock control next to Start/Pause) remembers post ids this script already queued — not what is on your disk. Memory has no fixed size cap, so a very large set of already-saved posts stays comfortable across long sessions. It is included in backup/restore (merged with what you already have when you import). Use Clear Download Ledger in the settings panel when you want a fresh ledger.

When on, the same post is not saved again (alert on manual download; silent with auto-download). Turn it off to save again after you deleted files locally.

Hide downloaded sits on the same dock control as a hover slide-out (always available, even when Skip is off). It uses the same memory to hide tiles you already saved. New downloads are recorded when Skip Duplicate Downloads or Hide Downloaded Media is on.

Repeating a save overwrites the file on disk; the script does not add (1) copies.

When downloads hit rate limits

The site or Cloudflare may ask for verification while posts resolve or while you browse a post. Soft rate limits often recover on their own; Cloudflare needs a quick confirm from you.

• Batch resolve — when a queued resolve needs a check, a Cloudflare challenge panel offers Open Cloudflare Challenge (one quiet verification window when you are ready) and Done — resume. On that challenge window, Done — resume — close tab resumes and closes it when the browser allows. While blocked, Download Queue Start/Pause also offers confirm-and-resume.
• Download interruption panel — when a large save would get relaunched while you browse: click Complete download — pause queue to mark it downloaded and pause so the in-progress save can finish; if you wait out the timer, the manager relaunches that download. Keeping the homepage as the Download Manager hub avoids this while you browse elsewhere.
• Browsing a post directly — if Cloudflare replaces the media page, complete the CAPTCHA on that page, then use the same style of side panel with Done — reload (not a separate grey popup).

Settings and sync

• Settings sync across every rule34 page you have open. Tags, rules, bookmarks, and the download ledger persist in the browser.
• Frequent toggles stay on the dock; the settings panel holds path patterns, bulk lists, Behaviours, Start in Selection Mode, backup, and maintenance.
• Behaviours — Review Ignored Download Path Tags, Skip Media Without Download Path Tags, and Only Show the Download Manager.
• Backup Configuration / Restore Configuration — export or import (download memory and bookmarks included; bookmark list is replaced on restore). Clear Download Ledger and Clear Database live in the same area of the panel.
• Support — open the Patreon link from the settings panel to support Brazen scripts.
• Hover any option for a short explanation.

Limitations

• The panel and features run on the site homepage, search result pages, and individual image or video posts — not on every page on the site.

Requires the Brazen Framework. Dependency modules load automatically.

Tampermonkey only — other userscript managers are not supported.
