There was a time when I had a user-script for this kind of stuff. It was an icon next to your name in the navbar from which you could deploy a pop-up and pick from a list of emoticons. Unfortunately, the recent changes in Facebook have broken it completely and I feel too lazy to rebuild it atm (I already did it once).

Maybe someday I'll get enough spare time to update and fix it. If I do, I'll post it where corresponds.
