Why does this script need to make fetches?

Motive

I noticed a strange behavior with the fetches as well, as they seem to be wrapped in several layers, making the fetches that the occurring hard to read. I am interested in the script, but the lack of transparency with the fetches makes me feel this will scrape my data.
